His Word Brings Joy Part Four
God Tells Us About Himself
Our God is so much more than our minds can grasp. And oh, how it makes my heart sing!
The Bible has much to say about God’s attributes. Here are just a few:
He is the breath of life, our High Priest, our Guard and guide, our salvation and Savior, the Kinsman Redeemer. He is faithful—the rebuilder of broken walls and lives. Our God is courageous and wise. He is the Prince of Peace, Faithful Father, the strong arms that hold us, and the forgiver of sins. He is our strength and restorer—the one who brings healing in His wings. The Lord is eternal, gracious, and powerful. The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He hears our prayers and heals our diseases. Our God is the King of Kings, the Mighty Counselor, the Faithful Shepherd, and the Alpha and Omega – the Beginning and the End.
Jesus declared seven “I Am” statements that tell us about about Himself:
- I Am the Bread of Life (John 6:35)
- I Am the Light of the World (John 8:12)
- I Am the Gate of the Sheepfold (John 10:7)
- I Am the Good Shepherd (John 10:11)
- I Am the Resurrection and the Life (John 11:25)
- I Am the Way, the Truth, and the Life (John 14:6)
- I Am the True Vine (John 15:1)
I often thank Him for His attributes. I praise Him for who He is. Doing so fills my soul with delight, knowing that my multifaceted God is so much wonderfully more than I can comprehend.
Because of my many years of praying this way, He is becoming my all in all. In this journey, I find the courage to know that the One who is beyond what my mind can grasp is my sufficiency. It is more than head knowledge; it is abiding trust, strength, and joy.
You are the treasure that I seek
You are my all in all
Seeking You as a precious jewel
Lord, to give up I’d be a fool
You are my all in all
