Dec 05 2023 Fun Favorites for the Season
Holiday greetings, friends!
Here are a few fun things for the season (yes, more than my usual four).
Books:
I read this last year and enjoyed it. The author writes PG, and I appreciate seasonal books with some depth; there is also a Netflix movie version. This book is in a series of four, but you don’t need to read them in order.
I love this author and her entire Mitford series! But this one can stand alone even if you haven’t read the others. You will enjoy this sweet story and small-town characters at Christmas. I have read it many times, and it brings me comfort and joy.
Gift Ideas:

Galison Michael Storrings Christmas in The City Puzzle, 1000 Pieces, 27” x 20” – Difficult Jigsaw Puzzle with Stunning Holiday Artwork – Thick, Sturdy Pieces, Challenging Family Activity
What a beautiful puzzle! I ordered one for my parents (shh, don’t tell them)—such a fun activity on a chilly Christmas night. https://amzn.to/47Qtxm8
Souper Cubes 1 Cup Silicone Freezer Tray With Lid – Easy Meal Prep Container and Kitchen Storage Solution – Silicone Molds for Soup and Food Storage – Aqua – 2 Pack https://amzn.to/46Br0LD
I haven’t adjusted to cooking for two – I still cook for a brood of boys. So, I am now freezing the extras for a night when I don’t feel like cooking. These 1-cup cubes make it easy.

I order this cozy wall calendar every year: each month features a theme recipe and darling images.
Watch:

A beautiful movie. I own the DVD and pull it out every few years. Great casting. It is the perfect watch when you want to focus on the true meaning of this season. It is streaming on Prime and a few others. There are also used copies to be found. Rated PG.
Little Women was always a Christmas book for me. I loved this 2019 version of the movie—it was a different take than the other movie versions.
It is streaming on Apple TV, among others: https://tv.apple.com/us/movie/little-women/umc.cmc.2o0marx9k5sgfl9h30cvczea9
I know this isn’t holiday-related, but it is the end of the year, and as we think about the New Year and all of its possibilities, this series may motivate us to take actionable steps in 2024 and invest in our longevity. I loved it.
Blue Zones Netflix Documentary – Blue Zones
Happy holidays, my friends! Let me know what you are enjoying in this most wonderful time of the year.
Blessings,
Kristin
