His Word Brings Joy Part Seven
We are not Alone
Everywhere we turn, people are struggling. Careworn. Crushed in spirit.
I am sorry if you are in a sea of pain yourself. I get messages from readers of this blog, so I know some of your deep waters.
We can feel alone in our marriages, friendships (or lack thereof), fractured families, churches, and even feel far away from God.
I want to piggyback on number one of our joy list (there is joy in His presence). Because of the epidemic of loneliness, depression, and anxiety, it’s good to be reminded of God’s nearness. We forget. I know I need this reminder.
God is personal. When it seems we are alone, His word reminds us that we are not. He is with us, dear one. When I am consistently reading the bible, I notice that I feel less lonely because I find the delight of His nearness in its pages. I remember He is my best friend and forever companion because He tells me this is true.
The following verses confirm these truths:
“The LORD is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” Psalm 34:18
“And I will pray to the Father, and He shall give you another Comforter, that He may abide with you forever.” ~ Jesus, John 14:16
“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.” Psalm 32:8
Friend, remind yourself regularly that you are not alone. During my wilderness times, I often ask God, “Where else would I go?” When Jesus asked the disciples if they wanted to drop out, as many others had, Peter said, “Lord, to whom would we go? You have the words of eternal life. We believe and know that you are the Holy One of God.” (John 6:68-69)
Where else would you go? For me, His Word is the place I return to each day. This book holds the key because these are the words of eternal life. It holds the joy that holds me together. Friend, return to this list of seven and each of the verses listed and soak them in.
Let His Word do a work of joy in your soul.
Then, don’t keep the secret; take this joy, this light, into your world and share it. We hold the key when we hold His Word. Be a conduit of bringing His Word into the hands of others so they can experience the joy it holds.
It is His joy that remains in us that makes our joy full.
