What if I Give Him July?

What if I Give Him July?

Hello July, my favorite month! In you contains a lifetime of cherished memories: Wimbledon on the screen and dad by my side, jumping the waves at Tower 23, burnt marshmallows with melty smores, chubby sunscreened babies in the pool, the never-ending 5 freeway and Oregon family, sleeping with windows opened wide, dripping bathing suits while lunching on cheese crips with Jen and Carrie, crinkly library book covers, fireworks, melty mint chip running down my arm, and even way-too-many sunburns.

As I write today, I lift a prayer of thanks to the Lord for these memories and the countless others tucked into the corners of my heart.

This month, perhaps more than most, invites us outside, into light, into stillness, into joy. And as we watch the sun rise early and set late, we are reminded: from morning till night, He is worthy of praise.

In midsummer, creation preaches if we have ears to hear. Even in the heat and haste, we can pause and remember that God is not distant. His mercy runs as deep as the oceans, and His faithfulness shines like the noonday sun.

So, I’ve been thinking: what if I give Him July? Not just the morning moments while reading the Bible or Sundays at church, but the whole month—every meal shared on a patio, every barefoot beach walk, every watermelon slice, every firework burst? To start and continue my day with the intention of turning moments, hours, and experiences over to Him. To watch my soul expand and draw to my Savior.

To lean in and listen.

Let July be the month I marvel again. Let it be the month I slow down and lift my eyes.
Let it be the month I deepen my wonder with not just creation but in the Creator.

I may wander, but July reminds me: He is steadfast

I may worry, and July whispers: He provides

I may grow weary, and July proclaims: He sustains

Lord, I offer You this beloved month, laying it at Your feet with a heart resolved to abide in You, to praise You with fresh eyes, and to adore You more with each passing day.

“From the rising of the sun to its setting, the name of the Lord is to be praised.”
Psalm 113:3 (ESV)
